Oil Painting on Canvas of Southeast Asian Style Village Scene
Item Details
An oil painting on canvas of a Southeast Asian style village scene. This painting depicts a congregation of people adorned in colored robes and cloth belts conducting daily tasks, including carrying produce and cooking. The village is accented with thatched roof structures, a central shrine and pagoda-like buildings surrounded by lush, jungle foliage. To the lower left corner of the composition is an illegible, painted signature, which is accompanied by the inscription ‘Bali’, dated 1989. This could possibly denote that the painting is Balinese in origin. The painting is presented in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
