An original signed ink and watercolor illustration on paperboard by very well-listed American illustrator Sam Norkin (New York, 1917 – 2011), best-known for his theater sketches. This piece is titled Laterna Magika and depicts a woman dancing across a checkered floor in front of a series of large frames holding various surreal scenes and imagery painted in black and green. The painting has areas of translucent halftone-printed film applied across it. The name of the show and the date Aug. 2 1964 are written in graphite to the lower left. The work is signed to the lower left and is presented without matting or framing, awaiting your choice of presentation. Norkin had thousands of illustrations published in the New York Daily News, New York Herald Tribune, Boston Globe, Washington Post, and countless other publications.
