An original signed ink and watercolor illustration on paperboard by very well-listed American illustrator Sam Norkin (New York, 1917 – 2011), best-known for his theater sketches. The piece depicts scenes from various New York Opera performances, including The Scarf, Wuthering Heights, The Devil and Daniel Webster, and Street Scene. The piece is signed by hand in ink to the lower right. Extensive graphite notes to the lower margin label each performer and show, and date the piece April 5, 1959. The piece is presented without matting or framing, awaiting your choice of presentation. Norkin had thousands of illustrations published in the New York Daily News, New York Herald Tribune, Boston Globe, Washington Post, and countless other publications.

Condition

- white out has been applied over many areas of the illustration.
