An original signed ink and watercolor illustration on paperboard by very well-listed American illustrator Sam Norkin (New York, 1917 – 2011), best-known for his theater sketches. This piece is titled Leonard Bernstein: ‘Mass’ and depicts the show’s main character, The Celebrant, played by Alan Titus. He wears a broad robe and waves cloths dramatically through the area. The piece is titled, dated Sunday June 25, 1972, and noted ’Alan Titus (The Celebrant) in graphite to the lower margin, and is signed to the lower left in ink. It is presented without matting or framing, awaiting your choice of presentation. Norkin had thousands of illustrations published in the New York Daily News, New York Herald Tribune, Boston Globe, Washington Post, and countless other publications.
