A watercolor painting with an accompanying offset lithograph from illustrator and author Eric Vincent’s Classics Illustrated: Aesop’s Fables series. This illustration, which comes from issue number twenty-six and was initially released by First Publishing in 1991, depicts the story of The Beekeeper in multiple panels. It shows a lion furiously swatting at a swarm of bees that emerge from honey-combs that have been raided. The painting is signed and dated (1993) to the lower left corner of the composition. A matching offset lithograph with printed text bubbles and an inscription are found at a diagonal to the right margin. The works are presented under glass beneath matting in a silver tone metal frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- glass could be cleaned more thoroughly; minor scratches to frame; small crack to the lower right of glass.
