Pair of Wesley Kime Watercolor Paintings on Paper of Architectural Landscapes
Item Details
A pair of watercolor paintings on paper of architectural landscapes by Wesley Kime, MD (b. 1929). One work features a desolate street corner populated with telephone poles, barren trees, and a lone Victorian style house with a gray sky hovering above. This work is signed ‘Kime’ to the lower right; illegible inscriptions in black ink are present to the lower left. Also included is a painting of a close view of an industrial style urban building along the street, accented with glowing yellow hues along the facade. The painting is signed ‘Kime’ to the lower right. Both paintings are marked with a label from the Eisele Gallery of Fine Art to the verso. Neither work is matted and both remain unframed.
Wesley Kime pursued dual careers in art (an interest from childhood) and medicine. He studied at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles and was respected as a pathologist at the Kettering Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. After retiring from medicine, he painted full time with a concentration on portraits and urban cityscapes. His portraits are known for capturing the “life likeness” of his subjects, accomplished with accurate and boldly strategic brushstrokes.
Condition
- staple holes along edges of both paintings from previous display; wear along paper includes wrinkling, bending, and fraying; adhesive residue throughout versos.
Dimensions
