A group of three late 19th century books. This includes volume II of Portrait Gallery of Eminent Men and Women of Europe and America by Every A. Duyckinck, featuring steel engravings throughout. It was published in New York by Johnson & Miles in 1873. Also included are volumes I and III of Animate Creation by The Rev. J. G. Wood, revised and adapted to American Zoology by Joseph B. Holder, M.D.; published by Selmar Hess in 1885. All books are fully bound in leather with gilt lettering to the front cover and raised bands to the spine.
