Ceramic Elephant Coin Bank and Toothpick Holder

A pairing of a ceramic elephant coin bank and a ceramic elephant toothpick holder. The coin bank depicts a walking elephant with its trunk thrown back. The elephant has a grey luster finish and wears an orange and blue blanket, embellished with a black floral outline design, across its back. Residual gilt accent can be seen around the white border on the blanket. The bank has a slot to insert coins but no hole to retrieve them without breaking the piece. The toothpick holder depicts an elephant pulling a box on wheels. The box has a hole in the top to hold the toothpicks. Both pieces are marked to the underside ‘Made In Japan’.

- significant wear to painted finish on toothpick holder. Wear to gilt on coin bank. Residue in crevices of blanket on coin bank.
