Edgar Yaeger Ink Wash Painting on Paper Figural Landscape

An ink wash painting on paper of a figural landscape by well-listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (1904-1997). Rendered with simple delineations in black ink, this work features a man in the woods with a rifle over his shoulder. The work is signed to the lower left. It is presented under glass with taupe fabric-covered matting, a blue-painted wood signs edge, and a distressed blue wood frame. The composition is accompanied with a brochure on the artist from Cincinnati Art Galleries, LLC.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
