This four volume history of Cincinnati by Reverend Charles Frederic Goss, spans the years of 1788 to 1912 and starts with Marquette and Joliet’s exploration of the region and Northwest Territory settlement. It then explores the city’s development through the balance of volume one. Volume two looks at Cincinnati’s role in the civil war and the development of its religious culture and volumes three and four provide biographical accounts of Cincinnati’s prominent citizens through the years. These four volumes were published in 1912, are hardbound with leather spines and gold tone embossed lettering.
