An oil painting on canvas titled Library, Inside & Out by Cincinnati artist Robert Herrmann (American, 1922-1996), executed in 1958. This work features an abstract rendering of architectural forms, panels, and openings, portrayed with rich colors and simplified geometric shapes. The composition is signed, titled, and dated to the verso. It remains unframed. Included in the lot are two exhibition catalogs from Cincinnati Art Galleries, LLC., copyrighted 2000 and 2008.
Robert Herrmann acquired his formal artistic and architectural training at the University of Cincinnati, University of Wisconsin, Ohio State University, University of Iowa, and Columbia University. While professionally trained, he chose to never exhibit his work publicly, making his first solo exhibit posthumous. He is known for his precisionist style and his paintings of architectural landscapes.
