An antique figural mantel clock by the Ansonia Clock Company. The clock features a figure of William Shakespeare seated next to the clock case and resting on a rectangular base with applied scrolled feet and cast details. The clock is made of spelter with a black and gold tone patinated finish. The clock case has a trophy on the top and decorative handles on the sides. The bezel is under glass and features egg and dart molding. The face is white with black Roman numerals and two key arbors. The hands are filigree and part of the works is visible. The clock was designed to have eight day time and half-hour gong strikes.The brass works are accessible via a rear door. They are marked ‘Ansonia Clock Co./Patented June 14.81/New York U.S.A’. The clock comes with a key. Untested.
