An oil painting on canvas titled The Yellow Scene by Cincinnati artist Robert Hermann (American, 1922-1996), created in 1955-6. This work features geometric structures painted in yellow hues, situated to the right half of the composition; contrasting the structures is the remaining space painted in dark brown and black. The composition is signed and dated to the canvas verso. It is presented in a brown and silver-tone wood frame. The composition is accompanied by an exhibition catalog by Cincinnati Art Galleries, LCC, published in 2008.
Robert Herrmann acquired his formal artistic and architectural training at the University of Cincinnati, University of Wisconsin, Ohio State University, University of Iowa, and Columbia University. While professionally trained, he chose to never exhibit his work publicly, making his first solo exhibit posthumous. He is known for his precisionist style and his paintings of architectural landscapes.
