An antique Southern Empire cherry chest of drawers. This mid 19th century American chest of drawers has a light cherry finish, with the chest having panelled sides and a two board top over the large overhanging top drawer, with turned cherry knobs, supported on the front side corners of the chest with split column pilasters with ring turned capitals and bases, the three smaller drawers, one over the other and with turned cherry knobs, are between the pilasters and over the plain skirt of the chest; with the case resting on four turned baluster legs on ball feet. All drawers hand dovetailed; chest with the original back. No apparent maker’s mark.
