Peter Keil Original Oil Painting on Board "Dancing Housewife"

Item Details

An original oil painting on board by very well-listed and prolific contemporary German Neo-Expressionist Peter Robert Keil (Berlin; born 1942), titled Dancing Housewife. The Expressionist-style portrait depicts a woman painted in field of magenta, pale pink and teal with thick black outlines. She wears vivid red lingerie and lifts her arms high above her head. The painting is signed and titled in black to the lower right. It is presented without matting or framing, awaiting your choice of presentation.

Influenced by German Expressionism and graffiti elements, Keil is known for his simplified abstractions of traditional art subjects. He studied under Otto Nagel at a young age and developed relationships with other renowned artists such as Joan Miro. As Keil abandoned realism and developed his signature style, he used more vibrant colors rapidly applied with large gestural brushstrokes resembling the abstract style of Picasso.
