Vintage World War One Commemorative Helmet

Item Details

A vintage World War One commemorative helmet. This steel dough boy army helmet from World War One has been painted to commemorate the pilots and crew of the 9th Aero Squadron at Amanty Airdrome in Western France. Featured on the helmet is the American flag and a flight of a Breguet 14, a Sopwith Camel and a Curtiss JN-4 from the 9th Aero Squadron flying at sundown over the French countryside. The company insignia is towards the brim and is of a plane flying through the night with search lights creating the Roman Numeral IX. This squadron performed night reconnaissance missions along the Western Front and flew the three planes listed above. An officer’s cap device has been affixed to the top of the helmet.
