A hand-knotted Persan Kashan area rug. This wool carpet is hand-knotted in a palette of cherry red, midnight blue, forest green, ecru, peach, and sky blue. It features a diamond shaped floriate medallion with prominent palmette pendants on a vibrant red colored field. The scalloped corner brackets are ground in fawn,ivory and navy with designs of floral sprays and branches. It has a main border with large Shah Abbasi palmettes and curling lancet leaves. This is framed by leaf and calyx and running water pattern guard borders. Finishing the carpet are overcast selvedges and fringe to either end.
