Item Details
A handwoven Indo-Persian Bijar wool area rug. This soumak rug is attributed to Indian weavers and rendered in a palette of terracotta, indigo, sage, powder blue, cornsilk, rust, and sepia. The terracotta field features an array of tree forms along with floral and palmette motifs. Framing the field is a leaf and blossom main border over indigo, along with a pair of floral meander guard borders. Finishing the rug are overcast selvedges and a white warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
