Hand-Knotted Turkish Bokhara Long Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Bokhara long rug. This wool rug, attributed to Turkish weavers, is rendered in a palette of dark rose, mauve, ivory, and black. It features a Turkmen-style design beginning with an open lattice pattern over dark rose, the lattice consisting of vertical rows of polygonal guls in ivory and mauve with black outlining interspersed with studded cross-shaped devices. Framing the field are compound, unresolved borders, including scrolling s-shapes and diamond patterns. Selvedges are double overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
