1909 "Thomas Simms Bettens" Memorial Book and 1910s Lytton Novel

A pair of early-twentieth-century books. Thomas Simms Bettens (New York: privately printed, 1909) is a memorial biography of schoolteacher Thomas Simms Bettens (1851–1907), including information on a memorial fountain erected by Bettens’ former students, and is bound in full leather with raised bands and gilt spine text reading ‘Thomas Simms Bettens’ and ‘1910’. Also included is the novel Pelham; or, Adventures of a Gentleman by Sir Edward Bulwer-Lytton, published circa 1910 by G. J. Howell & Co. of London and bound in half leather with raised bands and gilt spine decoration.
