Vintage Chinese Woven Wedding Basket
Item Details
A vintage Chinese wedding basket. The basket consists of two stacked cylindrical baskets, the upper one with a lid, woven of bamboo. The baskets are held in place by overlapping finger joints and fit between upright carved side rails connected by a hoop handle. The sides and lid of the baskets feature intricately woven patterns with details accented by darker dyes. The formal exchange of gifts is part of traditional Chinese weddings.
