Pastel on paper
A 2007 chalk pastel drawing on paper titled Grapes by contemporary Chinese-American artist Tsun Ming Chmielinski. The still life piece depicts a wine glass filled with a cluster of green grapes and leaves, set against a deep indigo background. The work is signed and dated in white pastel to the lower right. It is matted in white and presented under glass in a black wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso. The frame backing includes a label with artist and title information.
Tsun Ming Chmielinski is a Chinese artist raised in Hong Kong. Chmielinski moved to the United States in the 1970s and has a BA from the University of Massachusetts and an Master’s degrees in business from Bentley University and Emerson College. She received art training at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Massachusetts College of Art where she studied drawing and painting. Ming currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts. Her work holds influences from Chinese culture, particularly Sumi-e ink wash painting, as well as Western subjects including portraits and still life.
