Vintage Handwoven Kurdish Area Rug
Item Details
A vintage handwoven abrashed wool area rug, attributed to Kurdish weavers. The rug has a tan center panel with stylized flowers and lattice like designs in a palette of navy blue, tan, orange, white, light brown and light teal. The center panel has borders with stylized running vine patterns in orange, brown and teal on a cream ground, with orange flanking guard borders that have unresolved corners, and a wide boteh meander border in the field colors. The borders are edged with very narrow brown and cream barber pole stripes. The ends of the rug once had cream colored fringe, but no longer. No maker’s marks.
