Item Details
A polychrome painting on embossed leather of an 18th century domestic scene by an unknown artist. This painting depicts a male and female figure in 18th-century European dress pumping water at a well beside a stone wall in a landscape. The painting has been embossed with the linework of the image. The border of the piece has the natural leather texture and color retained. This painting is presented behind glass and in a gold-tone beveled frame with cast embellishments. The verso of this piece is equipped to hang.
Condition
- there are some dark stains toward the bottom of the composition. There are areas of craquelure and pigment loss throughout the piece.
