Vintage Hepplewhite Style Mahogany Dining Chairs

Item Details

A set of eight vintage Hepplewhite style, mahogany dining chairs. The set includes two armchairs and six sides, all having shield shaped backs with festoon splats over upholstered slip seats and rising on Chippendale style cabriole legs with scroll carved knees and paw feet in the front and two splayed legs in the back. The padded seats are upholstered in a cream and avocado green paisley print. The armchairs share all these features plus curved and routed arms ending in scrolled handholds and supported by curved rails embellished with carved acanthus leaves. The chairs have no discernible maker’s mark.
