An antique countertop grocer’s scale by The Computing Scale Co. of Dayton, Ohio, circa late 19th to early 20th century. The cast iron frame retains its original, green-painted surface with yellow pinstripes and nickel-plated accents. It features a four-prong, pan support counter balanced by a circular, weight platform above a horizontal barrel with an internal, rotating cylinder. Directly below is a shaped, rotating base retaining four weights, including a ten-pound, a four-pound, a two-pound, and a pair of five-pound examples. The bridge arm retains a plaque marked ‘The / Computing Scale Co. / Dayton, Ohio. / U.S.A. / Patented / Feb. 13 ’94’ and ‘32468’ while the base is stamped ‘Patents Pending / 368’.
