Antique Royal Bonn Porcelain "La Rita" Mantel Clock with Waterbury Movement
Item Details
An antique Royal Bonn porcelain La Rita mantel clock with Waterbury movement, circa 1900. The scrolled and molded, Rococo style case is decorated with floral stems and sprays in shades of green, pink, and purple against an ivory-white ground. It has gilt accents and a round, glazed door with a stamped, gilt-metal bezel before a conforming dial with black, Arabic numerals. The back of the case is fitted with a metal, star-embossed cover sliding open to reveal a brass movement marked ‘Waterbury Clock Co. U.S.A. / Patented Sept. 13. 1898.’ while the case itself retains a red, partially-obscured signature crest reading ‘… / Bonn / Germany / La Rita’. There are also two stamped, factory marks, one of which is ‘2628’. The clock comes with a pendulum and a winding key.
