Alfredo Santarelli Majolica Teacups and Saucers

A set of two early 20th-century majolica teacups and saucers by Alfredo Santarelli (Italian, 1874-1957). The ceramic pieces are decorated with Neoclassical motifs and tin glazed giving them a luster appearance. The interiors of the cups display portraits of famous Italian musician Alessandro Marcello and Roman Emperor Eliogabalo (Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus). Scrolling foliate and dragon motifs adorn the side of the cups and the saucer. A blue signature mark is present to the underside of one cup.

Condition

- light glaze loss throughout all pieces; 0.5" chip around the rim of one cup; minor chips and marks throughout.
