An 1857 hand colored wood engraving by Frederick James Smyth titled The Black Ball Line Clipper Ship ‘James Baines’ with Troops for India. The print is from a page in a publication, likely The London Daily News , and depicts the three-masted square rigged ship in full sail. The ‘James Baines’ was a very fast ship that was famous for setting record sailing times. The print is mounted under glass with white and deep blue layered mats topped by a French lined mat with a blue marbled border in a black and gilt trimmed wooden frame that is wired for hanging.

- minor discoloration to the print; printed text from verso of page visible to front; minor nicks and wear to frame.
