Hand Colored Lithographs With Newspaper Article From "Everyday Saturday"

Item Details

In Plate

A pair of hand colored lithographs with a newspaper article from Every Saturday. These two prints include View of the Bridge Now Building Across the Mississippi at St. Louis, which was sketched by artist Robert P. Mallory, as well as On the Mississippi, by artist Alfred Waud. Both illustrations depict circa 1871 renderings of the titular locations from an aerial view, overlooking a vast cityscape with a crowded harbor. The latter print includes an in-plate signature to the lower left corner, which is accompanied by a newspaper article. To the margins are inscriptions crediting the artist and date. The prints are presented under glass beneath matting featuring two separate windows. This is placed in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
