An etching after an original work of art Sheep Flock by Dutch artist Anton Mauve (1838-1888). This print depicts a sheepherder and flock walking toward the horizon on an overcast day. The print is signed in plate to the lower right. It is marked Published by Francois Buffa & fils – Amsterdam Obach & Co. London novb. 1889 to the upper right of the composition. There is a small etching of a sheepdog in the lower margin on the left. To the lower right, there is a notation by hand in graphite that appears to read, _ Carol Dake, aqf_. This print is presented matted in white, behind glass, and in a black and gold-tone frame with cast embellishments. The verso of this piece is equipped to hang.
Condition
- there is a very small fly trapped behind the glazing to the lower left.
