Item Details
An antique oil painting on canvas mounted to a backing board. The image depicts an idyllic Romantic landscape with three highly detailed figures tending to their goats to the foreground. They are standing near a doorway, mostly hidden within the dark undergrowth. Twisting trees tower over the scene, and frame a village visible in the distant hills. This work is unsigned. Presented in a gold tone wood frame with a hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- darkening to varnish. Mulitple tiny areas of paint loss to lower center across figures. Small areas of inpainting across lower edge. Canvas has lifted from board in several areas. General wear to frame finish.
