Variety of Mark Coomer Limited Edition Serigraphs on Board Genre Scenes

Item Details

A variety of four limited edition serigraphs on composite board of street and genre scenes by listed artist Mark Coomer (American, 1914 – 2004). Titles for some of the works include Old Georgetown, Ludwell Paradise Stable, Barber + Peruke Maker, and Garden of Wythe House. Not marked, the works are all from editions of 100. Signed by the artist in plate to the lower margins. Each is presented as a loose work without a frame or mat.

Born in Bay City, Michigan, Mark Coomer studied art in Chicago and Detroit before eventually settling in Arizona. He is known for his paintings and serigraphs, often depicting street patioscapes and urban city scenes. Coomer did almost all of his own printing, limiting his editions to 100. His preferred ground for his prints was masonite board, which combined with the permanent nature of his oil-based inks, were advertised as “washable”. Coomer exhibited his paintings and limited edition serigraphs nationally, and many can be found in private collections and institutions including the Chicago Art Institute; Challis Galleries, Laguna Beach, California; and The West and Walter-Bimson Western Art Collection housed at the University of Arizona Museum of Art.
