An East Asian inspired carved teak sculpture. The piece depicts a robed Budai figure, often referred to as the ‘Laughing Buddha’, smiling while holding an object in his right hand. No signature or maker’s mark was found.
Condition
- horizontal cracks across front shoulder and knee areas, with additional crack to underside of one foot; small hole to verso; minor surface wear and scratching throughout; slight accretion and residue to surface.
