Antique Chinese Three-Piece Architectural Door Surround, Circa 19th Century
Item Details
An antique Chinese three-piece architectural door surround, circa 19th century. The hardwood, red-lacquered frame consists of a transom and two uprights, each of which is carved and pierced with gilt detailing to depict birds and auspicious phoenixes. The top, center panel features a pair of guardian lions in pursuit of a ball while the bottom, right and left panels are carved with floral vases. The backs of the side panels are fitted with later hanging brackets.

Condition
- to fair; scattered scratches, nicks, and marks; some shrinkage cracks; wear/losses to gilding; some overpainting to lacquer; other imperfections as would be expected; assembles easily with notches.
