Antique Hand-Colored Photograph of Japanese Woodblock Portraits

A unique antique hand-colored silver gelatin photograph. The photograph was taken of a series of original Japanese woodblock portraits of various gentlemen. The men wear buttoned jackets, some of them with military decor. The photograph of the original prints has been accented with muted watercolors. Characters above each figure label them. The photograph is divided into three panels, each holding two of the portraits. The piece is presented behind glass in a natural-stained wooden frame with a sawtooth hanger attached to the verso.

Condition

- creasing and light denting across piece. Paper is slightly yellowed with age. Silver shadowing across photograph. Light scratching and wear to frame.
