Robert Herrmann Oil Painting on Canvas "Library at Night"

Item Details

An oil painting on canvas titled Library at Night by Cincinnati artist Robert Herrmann (American, 1922-1996), executed in 1958. This architectural landscape features an abstract rendering of architectural forms and a central sculpture portrayed with rich colors and simplified geometric shapes. The composition is signed, titled, and dated to the verso, however the title is concealed by the frame. Presented without glass and housed in a wood frame with a medium brown finish. Included in the lot are two exhibition catalogs from Cincinnati Art Galleries, LLC., copyrighted 2002 and 2008.

Robert Herrmann acquired his formal artistic and architectural training at the University of Cincinnati, University of Wisconsin, Ohio State University, University of Iowa, and Columbia University.
