An 1888 sterling silver teapot by Walter and John Barnard of London, England. The teapot features an oval body with fluted detailing to the lower portion of the body and the hinged lid, applied wooden handle and wooden finial. There is a three letter monogram engraved in a script font to the body. The teapot is marked on the body to the right of the handle with the maker’s mark for Walter and John Barnard, the lion passant, leopard for London, date letter for 1888, and the sovereign mark for Queen Victoria. The total approximate weight inclusive of all materials is 18.025 ozt.
Condition
-minor surface wear including faint markings, minimal tarnishing and personalized engraving present. The handle has likely been replaced.
