A contemporary 2004 gouache copy painting on paper by artist Donna Kress after the original 1920 painting by American artist William Sommer (1867-1949) titled Jazz Band. This modernist style painting depicts a seven-member jazz band dressed in black formal wear. The band appears to be performing in a colorful room with a striped brown and red ground. The piece is signed by the artist ‘William Sommer, WS, Donna Kress, ’04’ to the lower right corner. It is presented framed under glass with a wire hanger in verso.
