A circa 1940s, Hollywood Regency style pair of low chests or nightstands by Tommi Parzinger for Charak Modern. They have simple mahogany cases with block feet and four drawers to the front. The drawers all have green, tooled leather fronts, with gold colored border and two circular brass handles. The top and bottom drawers are shallow, while the center two are deeper. The Charak Modern mark is inside a drawer.

Parzinger (German, 1903-81) studied design at Kunstgewebeschule in Munich, later winning awards for his work, which is often a transition between or mix of modern and decorative style designs. He immigrated to the United States in the 1930s, where his work became highly collectible and a favorite among clients like Marilyn Monroe, Arther Miller, and the Rockefeller and DuPont families.
