A bronze bust of Otto von Bismarck, chancellor of the German Empire (1871-1890) by Kraus. This subject confronts the viewer with a pensive look with a furrowed brow and mustache. His formal jacket tapers into a chiseled column which is moulded with branch motifs. Signed in mold ‘Kraus’ to the shoulder To the side is a German inscription, ‘gew.vom Schwimmclub Neustadt a/h’ with a date ‘1884 10. Januar 1909’ to the lower edge of the base with ‘JB’ etched to the underside.
