A finely hand-knotted Persian Kashan silk and wool blend prayer rug. This beautiful rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, jade, terracotta, rose, cranberry, powder blue, cornsilk, and sepia. The field features an ivory colored mihrab with scrolling lines, against a rose colored field. The mihrab is supported with columns featuring vase bases, and also features elaborate floral motifs and lush foliage. Framing the field are equally elaborate borders including a stylized meander of flowers and leaves, along with ornate floral herati patterned guard borders against a jade ground. Finishing the field are overcast selvedges and a skirted fine knotted natural warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
