Framed Limited Edition Wedgwood Porcelain Plaque "The Frightened Horse"

A framed limited edition Wedgwood porcelain plaque titled The Frightened Horse after the painting by George Stubbs titled Horse Frightened by a Lion. I n 1780, Stubbs created a clay bas-relief model based on the composition for Josiah Wedgwood to create basaltware plaques. This plaque, with the depiction of the frightened horse recoiling in terror from the presence of the lion, is marked on the reverse ‘No. 199/ in a/Special Edition/of 250/Wedgwood/Made in England/73 BB.’. A plate on the front reads ‘The Frightened Horse/Modeled by George Stubbs/1724-1806’. The plaque is presented in a molded frame with a brushed gold tone finish. The mat, with an oval opening, is covered in gold velvet. There is a chain attached to the back of the frame.
