Large Hand-Knotted Persian Kerman Area Rug

A large Persian Kerman area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of cream, tan, crimson, pink, periwinkle, and sapphire. It features a crisply rendered allover floral design including sprays and garlands of flowers, swirling foliage, and palmettes over a cream-colored field. Compound, broken borders include a wide main border grounded in periwinkle, featuring an elaborate floral design incorporating cartouches and medallions filled with blooms and surrounded by them. Selvedges are overcast. Top and bottom finish with short kilim skirts and knotted cotton warp fringe. The rug is unlabeled.
