Item Details
An oil painting on canvas of a fox hunting scene by listed artist J. F. Herring (19th-century), dated 1871. This warm-toned piece depicts a group of figures on horseback, an autumnal landscape visible behind them. This piece is signed and dated by the artist to the lower right corner. It is housed in a gilt and gesso wood frame with a painted wood liner and a wire for hanging to its verso.
Condition
- some cracks to the gesso on the frame; canvas has been backed with board; numerous quarter-sized areas of missing paint, concentrated along the upper left and upper center.
