King George VI Coronation Cup

A ceramic King George VI and Queen Mary coronation cup from 1937. This white cup features the image of King George VI and his wife, Queen Mary, in a badge encircled by oak clusters and the words ‘Honi soit qui mal y pense’ (‘Shame be to he who thinks evil of it’), with ‘Dieu et mon droit’ (‘God and my right’) on a Garter ribband beneath. The lip of the cup reads ‘Coronation of King George VI & Queen Elizabeth, May 1937’, and the underside bears the seal of the British Pottery Manufacturing Federation and the stamp of T.G. Greene & Co., Gresley, England.
