Chinese Jewelry Box

A vintage Chinese jewelry box. This red lacquered piece features brass hardware and accents with bowenite inlay. There are double doors that open to reveal three drawers with silk-lined inserts. The box is decorated with brass ornaments of the ‘endless-knot’, a Buddhist symbol representing the interwoven concepts of wisdom and compassion. The top of the box features the “double happiness” symbol. The box is adorned with brass handles and rests on four molded feet with brass corners.

Condition

- one drawer handle is broken; surface marks and scratches throughout; wear to the brass hardware.
