Mid Century Modern Panasonic R-70 Radio and Ericofon Rotary Telephone

Item Details

A Mid Century Modern radio and telephone, including a round green Panasonic R-70 transistor radio with silver tone trim, circa 1970; and a white Ericofon rotary telephone produced by the Ericsson Company of Sweden featuring an incorporated dial and handset. The telephone is also referred to as the ‘Cobra Phone’ for its iconic design. The radio is marked ‘Panasonic’ and ‘Model R-70’ to the underside, the telephone features a dial to the underside and is marked ‘Ericofon’ and ‘North Electric Company, Galion, Ohio’ to the underside.

The Ericofon telephone line has been used in a number of feature films and television shows, including The Twilight Zone, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, In Like Flint, Hawaii Five-O, Mission Impossible, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Mad Men and many others.

Condition

- the radio has a name etched to the side; some discoloration and wear; oxidation to the metal on the underside of the phone; untested.
