Machine-Woven Tapestry "Jardin Secret"
Item Details
A Jacquard-woven tapestry titled Jardin Secret from French manufacturer Jules Pansu. This tapestry is based on the fifteenth-century millefleur style of tapestry that depicts subjects on a dark ground filled with flowering plants and fruit trees. In this piece, a gathering of medieval lords and ladies are gathered in the garden playing instruments and sharing fruits with each other. The piece is finished with a cotton fabric lining and has the Halluin coat of arms woven in the lower right corner. It has a pocket along the top edge with a hanging rod and a French certificate of authenticity describing the piece.
