Jacquard-Woven Tapestry "Vendanges"

A Jacquard-woven tapestry titled Vandanges (‘Grape Harvest’) from French manufacturer Jules Pansu. This tapestry is based on a portion of the the fifteenth-century ‘Wine-makers Tapestry’ now housed in the Cluny Museum. It depicts a group of medieval workers in a vineyard with the men harvesting grapes from the vines and women gathering them in baskets while the nobles look on and oversee the scene. The piece is finished with a cotton fabric lining and has the Halluin coat of arms woven in the lower right corner. It has a pocket along the top edge for a hanging rod and a French certificate of authenticity describing the piece.
